Iowa NRCS updating nutrient standards

January 23, 2013 – The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, or NRCS, in Iowa is accepting public comments until February 6 for its updated nutrient management standard, commonly referred to as the 590 standard.
Landowners and operators implementing nutrient management plans or constructing animal waste storage structures must follow the 590 conservation practice standard to receive voluntary conservation program funds.
