Resources sent a notice of violation this week to a Scott County hog
farmer planning to expand his confinement operation.

August 30, 2010, Scott County, IA – The Iowa Department of Natural Resources sent a notice of violation this week to a Scott County hog farmer planning to expand his confinement operation.

The letter to Grandview Farms, dated Tuesday, notified farmer Tom Dittmer of a violation for an improper septic system as well as a structure being outside the manure control system. It also noted that only solid manure, and not liquid manure, was observed and that Dittmer already had taken steps to fix the two issues.
