Illinois farmers unveil manure pit safety signs
The deaths of a 45-year-old
Winnebago County farmer and his 20-year-old son in July 2008 have
prompted fellow farmers in the area to develop manure pit safety signs.
March 27, 2009, Winnebago County, Ill – The deaths of a 45-year-old Winnebago County farmer and his 20-year-old son in July 2008 have prompted fellow farmers in the area to develop manure pit safety signs.
The signs were developed with the help of the Winnebago County Farm Bureau and warn farmers to wear an oxygen mask and/or have someone available to harness them out if they have to go into a manure pit. The signs are available for free from the Winnebago County Farm Bureau at 815-962-0653.
