IA DNR investigating manure spill near Le Mars
November 14, 2016 by Iowa Department of Natural Resources
November 14, 2016, Le Mars, IA – Iowa Department of Natural Resources staff from the Spencer field office are investigating a manure spill about three miles southeast of Le Mars in Plymouth County.
The DNR received notice that a semi-tanker had rolled over and was leaking manure into a small, unnamed stream. An estimated 8,900 gallons of manure was released.
The Oyens fire department is on site. A custom applicator worked to berm the area and pump up manure still in the tanker.
The manure originated from a nearby swine finishing operation.
