There is many a farmer who has
accidentally started the push-gate system to spread manure out on the
fields without opening the end-gate, resulting in the manure being
squeezed between the push-gate and the end-gate beater mechanism and
either one or both, bowing, bending or getting out of alignment.

There is many a farmer who has accidentally started the push-gate system to spread manure out on the fields without opening the end-gate, resulting in the manure being squeezed between the push-gate and the end-gate beater mechanism and either one or both, bowing, bending or getting out of alignment.

Now Leon’s Manufacturing has created a solution. No longer will there be two steps—opening the end-gate and starting the push-gate. The operator will simply start the push-gate hydraulics and automatically the hydraulics will flip up the end-gate.

This new optional kit for Leon Silver Spreaders (models SS425, SS585 and SS755) initiates two sequences. The first sequence valve is set to ensure the end-gate is fully open prior to the push-gate engaging and ejecting the load. The second sequence valve is set to ensure the push-gate is clear of the end-gate prior to the end-gate engaging and closing.

“First time operators particularly have a tendency to forget to open the end-gate,” says John Malinowski, vice-president, sales and marketing for Leon’s, “and sometimes experienced operators are busy and rushed and overlook opening the end-gate. This new automatic hydraulic end-gate opener option will prevent accidents happening for everyone.

“The strength at which the Leon spreader’s hydraulic system works to eject the manure (it can eject up to 4.8 tons per minute) creates a solid pressure that could cause damage if the end-gate has not been opened. This eliminates any damage without affecting the solid hydraulic push.

“Leon dealers can arrange to update Leon Silver Spreader units now in use, or anyone can call the Leon toll-free number, 1-800-667-1851, to locate the nearest dealer, or have questions answered.”
