Hogs blamed for lake woes

like they had giant targets on their backs as the province recently announced
its Lake Winnipeg cleanup plan.

Premier Greg Selinger made the industry the centrepiece of a
three-pronged effort to reduce phosphorus levels in the lake by 50 percent.
Scientists say high phosphorus levels have caused toxic algae blooms that will
kill Lake Winnipeg if no action is taken.
