October 5, 2010 – Barstow,
CA – Two months after it began trucking water to four neighboring homes because
of nitrate contamination in the groundwater, a Hinkley dairy is once again in
trouble with water board officials who say they can’t guarantee the water is
safe.

According to a notice of
violation sent to Desert View Dairy Sept. 22, it has not provided the Lahontan
Regional Water Quality Control Board
with proof that the bacteria and metal
content in the trucked water is within state drinking water standards. The
dairy also hasn’t shown that the truck hauling the water is licensed to carry
potable water.

A lawyer representing the
dairy, however, says the operator has been doing his best to meet the water
board’s requirements.
