Five principles for a good manure management plan

Developing a manure management plan is a good business decision for livestock producers.
“I urge you to develop a plan because I think it is going to be required some time in the future,” said Ted Funk, engineering consultant and retired University of Illinois Extension educator.
“We need to get accustom to plans because we need to do a better job of telling the story of how we manage our manure to the public,” Funk explained during a presentation at the Manure Application Refresher Course, sponsored by the Illinois Pork Producers Association, U of I Extension and Illinois Farm Bureau.
