
Feb. 12, 2010, Open City, MD – When an environmental group threatened to sue a Berlin
farmer over what was said to be an exposed pile of poultry manure, fingers were
again pointed at the chicken industry for the declining health of the
Chesapeake Bay.
Chicken manure is often
blamed, at least in part, for the deterioration of Delmarva waterways,
prompting zero-discharge decrees from federal lawmakers and ever-stricter
regulations.
