EPA doesn’t know where farms are: report

August 7, 2012, Chicago, IL – According to a recent report to Congress, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has failed to regulate pollution from U.S. livestock farms because it lacks basic information, such as how many farms exist.

Four years after the U.S. Government Accountability Office raised concerns and 40 years after the Clean Water Act, the report states the EPA still doesn’t know the location of many livestock farms, how much manure they generate or how the waste is handled.
