Design phase started for TX biogas plant

July 5, 2012  by Press release

July 4, 2012, El Paso, TX – Design work has started on what is being marketed as the world’s largest biogas plant for cow manure.

Located near El Paso, TX, the plant will process manure from 60.000 dairy cows. It is being constructed by entec biogas USA, the American daughter company of entec biogas GMBH.

The plant is being developed in an irrigated desert area with intensive cow breeding. As the available area cannot be used for spreading, the extreme quantities of manure will need to be converted into a usable, commercial product. The first step of the manure treatment plant will be the construction of the biogas plant. A compost plant and a wastewater treatment plant will also be part of the treatment program.

Construction of the biogas plant is expected to begin in November 2012.
