DEC halts Perry City manure lagoon

NY – The state Department of Environmental Conservation has issued a notice of
violation to Bergen Farms.

NY – The state Department of Environmental Conservation has issued a notice of
violation to Bergen Farms.

The violation stems from a
visit, which determined that the Bergens had disturbed 5.2 acres of land for a
three-million-gallon lagoon. Under its normal operating permit with the state,
the farm is allowed to disturb up to 5 acres without additional permits.
