DEC fines NY farm for manure runoff events

June 23, 2014, Auburn, NY – Owners of a Scipio, NY, farm have been fined $10,000 and ordered to alter their practices after manure runoff from the farm polluted nearby waters.

This past spring, Cayuga County officials and lake advocates requested the NY Department of Environmental Conservation investigate runoff events that began in February in the Town of Scipio. In mid-June, they received word from the DEC about its findings. READ MORE
