April 17, 2008, Des Moines, IA – Farm operators who use continuous no-till practices can still receive payment for 2007 carbon credits yet this year if they submit their completed contracts to AgraGate Climate Credits Corporation by May 1.

“Carbon credits are trading at or near their record high of $6 a ton,” said Dave Krog, CEO of AgraGate. “The opportunity to get 2007 credits verified and registered on the Chicago Climate Exchange will end in early May, so we want to be sure farm operators who use continuous no-till practices don’t miss out on this income opportunity.”

Farmers interested in marketing their carbon credits should visit the website – www.agragate.com – to download a copy of the Exchange Soil Offsets (XSO) contract. They also can contact an AgraGate customer service representative at the company’s toll-free telephone number, 1-866-633-6758.

AgraGate was created in July 2007 to broaden the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation’s carbon credits program, which had begun in 2003. AgraGate collects credits from farmers, ranchers and private forest owners, and then markets them on the Chicago Climate Exchange, returning proceeds to the credits owners.
