Dairy CUP prompts discussion of manure

March 20, 2012, Winona, MN – A feedlot expansion conditional use permit (CUP) application presented to a Minnesota county planning commission prompted in-depth discussion about independent third party soil testing near large-scale feedlots to protect surface and groundwater.

Kronebusch Farms Inc. has requested a CUP to expand the existing feedlot from 721.6 animal units (409 dairy cows, 164 dairy heifers and 171 dairy calves) to 988 animal units (550 dairy cows, 260 dairy heifers and 180 dairy calves). READ MORE
