Cow manure powers B.C. businesses

June 21, 2013, Abbotsford, BC – An Abbotsford dairy has harnessed the power of cow manure to generate electricity for its barn and milking operations and provide the excess to environmentally conscious businesses.
In a year, the biogas generator at Abbotsford’s Bakerview EcoDairy consumes about 1.6 million litres of manure, produces 170,000 kilowatts of electricity and prevents about 150 tonnes of greenhouse gases from entering the atmosphere.
It’s the first commercial system of its kind in Canada, supplying surplus electricity to BC Hydro’s power grid. READ MORE
