June 20, 2012 – A Minnestoa hog farmer convicted of a felony for a manure spill 11 years ago is looking to expand his operation.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is seeking feedback concerning an expansion proposed by a Spring Grove pork producer. The expansion would nearly double his farm’s capacity, from 790 animal units to 1,500, and would allow him to keep about 6,000 pigs in four buildings.

The operation consists of two buildings for nursery pigs and two for finishing hogs. The farmer hopes to convert one of the nursery buildings into a finishing barn, according to documents filed with the MPCA. READ MORE
