CDFA dairy AD program accepting research proposals

April 21, 2015, Sacramento, CA – The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is now accepting proposals for the Dairy Digester Research and Development Program (DDRDP) Phase II (Research).

CDFA was appropriated $12 million from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund to provide financial assistance for the installation of dairy digesters and research that will result in reduced greenhouse gas (methane) emissions. An estimated $500,000 in competitive grant funding will be awarded for research and demonstration projects that study and facilitate changes in manure management practices at California dairies that will directly result in greenhouse gas emission reductions and, facilitate improved understanding of the scientific and technical aspects of dairy digesters to provide information about their economic feasibility, widespread implementation and environmental benefits.

Applicants are invited to submit grant proposals electronically to grants@cdfa.ca.gov no later than Friday, May 15, 2015 at 5 pm PDT.

Applicants can access the 2015 Request for Research Proposals at www.cdfa.ca.gov/go/dd for detailed instructions, including eligibility requirements, timelines, scoring criteria and research priorities. Proposals must align with at least one of the programs research priorities and must demonstrate quantifiable greenhouse gas reductions.
