CA – The North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board is working to develop
a three-tier permitting program for dairies within their region.

Regional board staff is
currently drafting each of the three components of the dairy water quality
compliance program, and once adopted, each North Coast dairy will fall under
one of the following components depending upon onsite conditions:

The regional board is
working to make sure all dairy operators are aware of this undertaking and have
an opportunity to review and comment on the draft documents. Therefore, they
are requesting that producers send in a contact information form. Please note
that the form mailed to producers by the regional board has a typographical
error — the correct fax number is (707) 523-0135.

Western United Dairymen is
working aggressively to protect members’ interests as these programs are
developed. Producers in the region are encouraged to contact WUD field
representative Leslie Corp at lesliewud@hotmail.com
or (530) 354-4981 for any questions they may have about the program.
