CA grape grower fighting manure digester

June 25, 2013, Tulare, CA – A Tulare-area grape grower says he has no choice but to go to court to keep his neighbor from building a digester next to his property.
The Tulare County Board of Supervisors approved a special use permit for a 36-acre digester project at Harvest Power just outside of Tulare earlier this month. The facility, in the area since the 1990s, already composts green and some food wastes.
But it’s the new business plan that calls for 60,000 tons of manure to be brought within a few hundred feet of table grape crops that has Harvest’s neighbor, Sundale Vineyards, up in arms. READ MORE
