Batavia farm facing DEC review

NY  – The New York Department of
Environmental Conservation will begin a review of Offhaus Farms dairy’s manure
management plan in response to the contamination of wells in the town of
Batavia, the regional head of the DEC said.

management plan in response to the contamination of wells in the town of
Batavia, the regional head of the DEC said.

DEC Region 8 director Paul
D'Amato said he’s not sure if the department will establish a task force
similar to one it created in 2007 following a previous incident of contaminated
wells in Batavia.
