Barbara, CA – The man convicted in a political corruption scandal that made
headlines in the 1980s has filed for bankruptcy amid claims that his
manure-to-energy venture is nothing more than hot air.
W. Patrick Moriarty, 79,
filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in federal court in Santa Barbara. He
was involved in a business called Chino Organic Power and raised millions on
its behalf. But the methane-from-manure venture has failed to deliver on its
promises, leaving behind a trail of debts.
