Artex, J-Star joint venture offers farms more options closer to home

Two Canadian-based companies,
Artex Fabricators of British Columbia and J-Star of Quebec, have
reached an agreement to co-market and co-manufacture some of North
America’s largest solid and liquid manure spreaders.

Two Canadian-based companies, Artex Fabricators of British Columbia and J-Star of Quebec, have reached an agreement to co-market and co-manufacture some of North America’s largest solid and liquid manure spreaders. Artex, with its distinctive green-colored machines, is well known in the western market for its industrial-duty line of solid manure spreaders and silage boxes, while the red-colored J-Star equipment is currently North America’s leading brand for liquid manure tankers and pumps, and farmstead equipment.

    The combination of both manure product lines allows each company to supply a full line of liquid and solid manure handling equipment, as well as silage boxes, to their respective clientele. With manufacturing plants now on the east and west coast of North America, customers can get what they want: any type of big, tough spreader, with better after-sales service and a better price point, says John Ryan, vice-president of sales USA for J-Star.

    “Although the excitement of marketing each other’s products is on the forefront of everyone’s mind, we are also excited about the co-development of an integrated trailer mounting system,” added Artex president John de Jonge. “This system will allow both companies to utilize each other’s products.”

    The new mounting system, called “Ultra-Trac,” is available in six- or eight-wheel models, and is the common chassis under tankers, manure spreaders and silage boxes. The Ultra-Trac system allows owners to easily remove the manure tanker from the trailer and mount a variety of combination boxes in its place. A single combination box can currently be configured as a conventional manure spreader, a cyclone manure spreader, a quick-unload silage box, and as a grain box.
