American Biogas Council commends the introduction of the Clean Energy for America Act

The American Biogas Council (ABC) released the following statement in response to the introduction of Senator Ron Wyden’s (D-OR) Technology Neutral Energy Tax Reform bill, the Clean Energy for America Act.

Senator Wyden continues his work to grow the next generation of clean energy industries by proposing technology neutral tax strategies for long term growth and development of these low carbon energy technologies.

“History has shown that energy tax measures do accelerate private sector investment, create new jobs and contribute to the growth of domestically produced energy. But those tax measures have also been technology specific which boosts some industries while placing others at an immediate competitive disadvantage,” said ABC executive director Patrick Serfass. “Senator Wyden’s legislation will level the playing field for all renewable energy technologies and as a result provide a significant acceleration to the biogas industry.”

The Clean Energy for America Act recognizes that more Americans will prosper if the market is levelled for all forms of renewable energy and receive equal incentives to reach commercial maturity.

“This will create an environment where the biogas industry can grow and mature,” continued Serfass. “We appreciate Senator Wyden’s smart solution to this long standing issue. The American Biogas Council salutes these efforts and looks forward to working with Senator Wyden during the 116th Congress.”
