March 7, 2011 – A series of workshops designed to assist Central Valley dairy producers comply with a updated air quality rules will be held March 21 to 31 throughout the Central Valley.
The updated Rule 4750 requires all dairy operators in the Valley Air District with 500 milking cows or more to submit a Phase II permit application by April 21, 2011. The workshops sponsored by CDQAP will provide an overview of Rule 4750 requirements and deadlines. There will be assistance for both existing permit holders and newly permitted dairies.
Producers are asked to bring the following information:
Existing permit information for current Rule 4570 permit holders;
Actual herd size;
Potential herd size based on maximum design capacity;
Number of silage piles and type of feed in each pile, e.g., corn, wheat, alfalfa;
All silage pile dimensions (height, base width in feet);
Number of piles that will have an open face at any given time
