Manure-fueled plant to neighbour public housing
Written by The Patriot-News
February 24, 2010 – Steelton, PA – The view from Cole Crest public housing in Steelton was never great. Just beyond the chain link fence and the traffic on Route 230, sits the local steel mill’s property, criss-crossed by railroad tracks and towering power lines.

But residents could have a new neighbor.

Preliminary plans submitted to ArcelorMittal Steelton by Hampden Township-based Enginuity Energy call for a chicken manure-fueled plant that would burn one shipment of manure per hour, generating electricity for the steel operation and helping them shop for more competitive rates, said Dennis Heefner, a member of Steelton Borough Council.
