| Combining manure application, cover crops webcast |
|
January 6, 2010 –
Combining cover crops and manure becomes a winning combination to capture and
recycle nutrients, protect the soil from erosion and add organic matter while
decreasing the environmental risks with liquid manure applications.
Slurry seeding is an integrated process that incorporates low-disturbance tillage, manure application and seeding of forages and cover crops in one efficient trip over the field. Two webcast presenters – Jeremy Singer, research agronomist with the USDA Agricultural Research Service in Ames, IA, plus Tim Harrigan, associate professor of Bio Systems and Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University – will provide research results and answer questions. The free educational webcast is from the Livestock and Poultry Environmental Learning Center of eXtension. The Friday, Jan. 15 session begins at 2:30 p.m. EST. The webcast meeting room opens 15 minutes before the start time. Go here.
