Manure causes Ventura County fire

September 24, 2009, Fillmore, CA – The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said a 1,500-acre wildfire started through “manure spontaneous combustion from a local ranch.”

Spontaneous manure fires are fairly common in farm communities during conditions of extreme heat.
