January 19, 2012 – A good nutrient management plan not
only helps farmers take advantage of the fertilizer potential of their manure,
but also keeps that waste out of lakes, rivers and groundwater. As a result,
the WI Department of Natural Resources animal waste specialists are conducting
more on-site visits to help operators of large-scale farms better use the
nutrient management plans required by their state water protection permits.
